WHAD ITALIA is the Italian HALAL CERTIFICATION center specialized in auditing and certification of food, livestock, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and service companies.
REGISTERED in 2007 (the first organization in Italy to operate in compliance with INTERNATIONAL HALAL STANDARDS) at the VENICE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, it has since had the registration categories (with reference to the codes of the REVENUE AGENCY) ‘quality control and product certification’ and ‘activities of religious organizations’.
WHAD is a Muslim-managed and -run company; although no discrimination in terms of race, religion, gender or other factors is tolerated by theorganization, it maintains a majority proportion of Muslim to non-Muslim operators to ensure that decisions regarding the halal certification process are supported not only by technical competence and scientific evidence, but also by religious preparation.
The halal certification, while incorporating the principles of traceability and safety, adds to them elements that are exclusively religious in nature, thus maintaining the character of a RELIGIOUS CERTIFICATION.
The sectors in which WHAD ITALY operates as a certification body are food and beverage, animal feed and supplements, nutraceuticals (supplements),pharmaceuticals and cosmetics (cosmetics, perfumes and personal care), the latter sector for which the Italian body is particularly well known. The body also promotes halal certification with social, economic, religious and scientific projects, such as ITALIA BAYTI muslim-friendly hospitality, a halal-gluten free project, ‘le cucine del libro’ (halal cooking shows ).
WHAD is ultimately responsible for promoting awareness of ISLAMIC FINANCE and its interaction with the halal sector in Italy and Europe
